How can i apply tax on Deposit and Commitment ?

 How can i apply tax on Deposit and Commitment ? My client needs to apply tax on Advances received i.e. Deposit and Commitments as it is applied in Oracle Payables.
Can anyone tell how can tax be applied on Deposits ?
