IMP log says export client is using UTF8 character set

 When the impoprt log say that the export client is using UTF8 character set, does it mean the database from which the export stems has NLS_CHARACTERSET set to UTF8? Or does it mean that just the export client, what ever that means in contrary to the databse being exported,
is using UTF8 for what it's worth?
