How to find the Oracle Version that I need to install in order to restore from RMAN backupset 4 year

There is requirement to restore older data but i am not sure what was oracle version at that time as i joined recently.
Is there any view can tell us about version change?
Current version of database is 11g & this database were created using version 8i.
