Container Management

I would like to know from someone on their experiences in using container management module. We want to uniquely identify each container so that we can know the status of the container at any point in time. One option which we explored include use of Serial Number processing. But unfortunately when we run R41189 and pull the records into the container management tables the serial number reference is lost. The container management module works on the FIFO principle but the sales and return of containers donot necessarily follow FIFO. So it would be very difficult to reconcile each and every container. The
