performance problem on data guard for users while trying to save on application

Hi all,
i have implemented data guard on oracle 11gR2. One is my primary database and standby is my secodary database. The database is live. Everything is working as extected at db level, but we are getting queries from users that a simple save on the page is taking over 3 minutes.
The database was on a 10g db from which i migrated to 11gR2. On 10g users never complained, without data Guard.
Can anyone please help. Users are very frustrated.
see below my config:
oracle:/oracle/app/oracle/product/11gdb:DB24#dgmgrl
DGMGRL for Solaris: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
