How to use LDAP for my database authentication

Can I use an external LDAP for authenticating database connections? If so, what do I need to do this? It's unclear to me from the Oracle doc. It looks like the Oracle Advanced Security Option allows for this, but after reading that doc, it looks like it only supports OID as the LDAP. Does Oracle Wallet provide for external LDAPs support?
