HTMLDB 10g install on OE Linux / Itanium (Montecito)

Hi!
We have a strange problem with installing Oracle HTMLDB (for APEX 4.x with Oracle 10g) onto an Itanium-based (Montecito core) Linux server (Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5). The installer is always getting an error when running the linking step, and then unable to create a whole lot of libs that required. We tried to reproduce the error, and the details are:

binutils-2.17.50.0.6-14.el5
# rpm -q gcc
gcc-4.1.2-48.el5
