Creating Data Forms/Grids

I am a fairly new user and helping out in a database administrator role. I am trying to figure out how to create a data form or grid in HFM that will allow me to input and submit data into it. We are trying to just develop simple forms that users can input to to track things such as software. The form would have a beginning balance, they would input increases, decreases, transfers, etc. The problem is every time I create a form or grid, it does not allow me to input to it. What do I need to adjust to make it work?
