All the connections to the database using BEQ protocol

Hi,

We have one database in Oracle8i, all the connections to this are going through BEQ protocol even when I connect through the network using TNSNAMES, please do let me know whats causing this?

Environment

Database Oracle 8.1.7

OS SunSolaris 9
