Suggestions for Hyperion running on a Virtualized Server

My client has requested virtualizing all the development environments of Hyperion Planning.  We had tested Hyperion and ESSBASE on a 64 bit 4 CPU 8 GB RAM Windows Server 2003 R2 with VMWARE 3.5 about 9 months back.  The database and application servers were upgraded from 32bit to 64bit.

We noticed that ESSBASE system was very slow.  It seemed to be completely disk bound IO.  The disks we used are direct attached, on a server class system with Raid5.  It didn't matter how many CPU's or memory we gave to it.

I'd like to know if anyone here has any experience with this, can make suggestions on different things to try (i.e. reconfig VM, or different platform altogether)

Howdy, Stranger!
