testing on TEST db as if it is PROD db

Hi,
I have a prod database ( 3 instances) and test database ( 2 instances).
I want to test with changing the init. parameters of test but issue is that test does not have the same data as prod . so test results become meaningless.

I know I can transfer the prod database stats from prod to test and then do the testing on test database ( as if it is prod ).

Has anybody does this ?
If so then what are precautions ?
Is there any other simpler way to do the same task ?
