SVM all submirrors "Needs maintenance"

I discovered a few weeks ago that all the submirrors for several metadevices are in a "needs maintenance" status. Support (SR 73633188) recommends running metareplace.
Is this a good idea?
Can I just causally run metareplace commands? If so, which ones should I do first?
metastat is suggesting I run metasync commands. Should do that before or after metareplace?
The server is an X4500 running:
uname -a
SunOS beaker 5.10 Generic_142901-15 i86pc i386 i86pc
cat /etc/release
Solaris 10 5/09 s10x_u7wos_08 X86

Assembled 30 March 2009
The SVM volumes are the boot disks.
