How is the Journal Effective Date derived from AR Transactions?

I am trying to understand how does GL Journal Effective Date is derived from AR transactions.  See example below:

AR Trxn 1 with Trxn Date 10/12/2010, GL Date 10/12/2010, Completed Date (Last Updated Date) 10/25/2010

AR Trxn 2  with Trxn Date 10/20/2010, GL Date 10/20/2010, Completed Date 10/25/2010

AR Trxn 3 with Trxn Date 10/25/2010, GL Date 10/25/2010, Completed Date 10/25/2010

Our AR posts in summary to the GL.  GL Transfer was run on 10/25/2010, one journal was created with the above 3 transactions among others with a Journal Effective Date of 10/20/2010.

I am wondering why the journal was created with 10/20/2010 date instead of 10/12 or 10/25?

Howdy, Stranger!
