Another autoextend question

Hi all,

I have a RAC system using ASM instances over multiple nodes.  The datafiles associated with these systems are set to auto extend with reasonable max limits.  My question is at what point will the extend actually happen.  Some the datafiles are at  98+ full. 

I know this is probably not enough information; but I can find no document identifying how this actually works given all the variables I have RAC, ASM, and multiple nodes.
