OTL: Rotation Plans

We have rotation plans with repeating work plans that go back several years.  Can we delete some of the older work plans within the rotation plan? 

Example: 

Rotation Plan A contains

Work Plan 1 07-JAN-2007

Work Plan 2 14-JAN-2007

Work Plan 1 21-JAN-2007

Work Plan 2 28-JAN-2007

Can I delete the older Work Plan components from the Rotation Plan without adversely affecting any current time entry?  Does it matter whether the timecards for those periods have been archived or not?
