Retrieving BSFN specs for service request

All, I am new to JDE and wanted to find out the recommended method for retrieving a business function when support is requesting it for a service request. 

1. Do I use OMW and do an advanced get for the particular environment?

2. Do I go directly to the logic server running that environment and grab from the source folder?

3. Do I go to the deployment server and grab it off of there somewhere?
