Handle with Backordered?

 Hi all,  
      Now trying to learn the functionality in Order Management. I am stuck in the Backordered. I did the following things. Does anyone know a way to cancel backordered sales order lines, do it manually? Can you please tell me step by step?
    Once i know that sales order is backoredred. Can I correct the total number of item or edit the arrival time then the sales order will become normal (not in backorderd) ?

I've looked on the forums and on Oracle Support but from what i ask i didn't find the answer.
