Cleaning up APPS /.patch_storage directories

I've upgraded to R12.1.3 and applied CPUOCT2010 so a lot of disk space has been taken over by stuff placed into /.patch_storage. I'd like to cleanup the APPS $ORACLE_HOME and $IAS_ORACLE_HOME /.patch_storage to free up disk space, however, the 1.0.0.0.63 OPatch does not have the "util cleanup" functionality that the DB Opatch (11.1.0.8.3) does.
What files / directories in the APPS /.patch_storage directories can be cleaned out and what is the best way to do it?
