What is the difference between using a business service created based on the "CSSEAIDataSyncService"

What is the difference between using a business service created based on the "CSSEAIDataSyncService" class, and using the EAI Siebel Adapter based on the "CSSEAISiebelAdapterService" class?
They both seem similar to me. The Insert method for each just takes on different arguments.
One accepts a hierarchical message, using an integration object and the other has various other inputs.
