Converting finished good item to ATO item in inventory

We have a requirement to update the ATO item flag in item definition to yes which is currently not enabled. We already have transactions for this item in the system and now we need to update this flag. We need to update this flag as we now need to have a linkage between the sales order and the production work order. We understnad if there should be no open sales orders in the system before we update the ATO flag on the item.

Apart from ensuring no open sales orders before the flag is updated, are there any other points that we need to consider before making this change?
