AMEX Credit Card Masking, unable to identify correct credit card

We have customers who have multiple Credit Cards, specifically multiple AMEX cards that have the exact same first 4 digits and exact same last 4 digits and we are unable to identify the correct card to choose for the customer when adding to a contract or processing collection. We are using R12 and Oracle does not allow us to unmask more than 4 on either side of the card and they are not able to provide a work around for this issue.  When we try to collect money from the customer and try to charge one of his cards that is on
