BOM Items(with service) on Sales Order Line.

Hi All,
I am a newbie to BOM's so this might be a basic question. I created a BOM ,say XYZ, with two items, one item is tangible ,say A,so it is  inventory,shippable,orderable item with enough on-hand quantity etc.The other item in the BOM is a service item warranty (non tangible).  The idea is to ship this order so that it should create a service contract type warranty in OKS.

Now I place this BOM xyz on a sales order line and able to book this sales order. However I am not able to progress it further i.e pick release or ship confirm. Now for this order to be progressed,do I also have to do a miscellaneous receipt of this BOM in inventory indicating that there is enough quantity for the BOM xyz? If I do so,what is the functional reasoning of it, as I already did the misc receipt of the item A i.e there is enough on-hand quantity of the item A (10),and the other item of the
