[10.2.0.4 on W2K3] converting a database from WE8ISO8859P1 to WE8MSWIN1252

 Hi, Assuming I've got lossy data. The lossy data are characters unknown from source CS but known from destination CS.
What do I have to do before using CSALTER ?

export lossy data,delete it,perform a CSSCAN fromchar=WE8ISO8859P1 tochar=WE8MSWIN1252,then CSALTER and finally import lossy data ?
OR run CSSCAN fromchar=WE8ISO8859P1 tochar=WE8MSWIN1252,then CSALTER
OR run CSSCAN fromchar=WE8MSWIN1252 tochar=WE8MSWIN1252,then CSALTER

Note 555823.1 is not clear enough for me. Please help me.
