Maximum amount limit on counter reading

 Is there a way specify a limit or maximum amount for a regular counter reading? 

For example, if the UOM for the regular counter is HOURS not allow more than 24 HOURS to be entered for a counter reading if it has not been more than 24 hours since the last reading.
