Combine companies in financials

 Hi all.  Has anyone ever built a "Date-effective Organization structure?"  We use JDE Financials 9.0 E1 and have two companies that we want to combine into one.  Looks like we can record the current structure using the Date-effective org structure program on G09414.  Then to combine the two companies I could change the company number on existing business units; work through the balance sheet changes manually.  Has anyone done this?  How well did it work?  Thanks for any advice.
