Balancing Segment Value and impact to LE and various modules

Hi-

Question on 11i to R12 upgrade.  We have 1 Ledger with 5 LE's.  Currently we only have a value set assigned for BSV Assignments, but the Balancing Segment Value is not set up.  What are the impacts of leaving this as it is without a Balancing Segment Value?

Please advise.  Appreciate pro's and cons of leaving as is or adding the Balancing Segement Value (we would use company).
