Do we need to kill OS process after -->alter system kill session 'sid,serial#';

Hi Gurus,
We are having long running / hanging (ACTIVE and INACTIVE) sessions.
We are using -->>alter system kill session 'sid,serial#'; command but still our server resources usage is full.

My confusion is after -->alter system kill session 'sid,serial#'; do we need to kill OS process and How ??
