Negative Book Values and Overdepreciating Assets

We have numerous assets with a negative net book value, and are doing research to identify why this happens.   Many of the assets appear to have over-depreciated.  In one example, we added an asset with just over $1M in cost, and the asset depreciated twice that over it's life.  Has anyone else experienced this with PeopleSoft Asset Management.  on version 8.8.  Thanks very much.
