Question about backup.
I have Oracle EE 10.2.4 database on windows 2003 R2 Server. I have cold backup of the database every night. I have all archive logs since my last cold backup everyday. I don't have recovery situation yet, but have a question in anticipation of it. My Questions is--
Assume I have media failure, say for example disk failue on Monday monrning at 9.00 AM, which needs media recovery. At that point I have Sunday night cold backup and all the archives since then. Now I need to restore my Sunday night cold backup and apply all archives since then on it. I have shutdown database(normal or abort) at this point of time. The question is Should I have backup of the existing corrupted database before I try to restore my Cold backup of Sunday and apply archive logs on it? This question is borthering me.
