Change in Category Assignmnent

 Hi Team, I have created an item category with three segments and i want to use this category while creating PO.I've defined category codes and created category set.i cant assign this category under default purchasing category because it is having only 2 segments.Moreover i am not able to change default purchasing category to one which i've define.
Please guide me how to proceed??
