Using distro_const for Disaster Recovery

For quite some time I have been successfully using Flash Archives for our Disaster Recovery Tests.  With the advent of Solaris Express 11, this tool is no longer available.  I've been trying to use distro_const as a substitute but all I can get is a vanilla OS.  I need the actual OS along with hostname, ip address, kernel parameters, etc.
The answers I've been reading online talk about using zfs snapshots.  I'd really rather not do that.  I'm not 100% comfortable with zfs yet and would like to store my images on a non-Solaris system, which is what I've been doing with my Flash Archives.  I need to be able to restore to different hardware.  I'm not sure if zfs snapshots can do that either.

Howdy, Stranger!
