tcopy stats

While running tcopy (using the command tcopy srcdev tgtdev)

I see messages like the following:

file 1: records 1 to 494745: size 32764
file 1: eof after 494745 records: 16209825180 bytes
eot
total length: 16209825180 bytes

Does anyone know if the total length count is from the source or target device?  In other words, can I compare the file 1 eof bytes and the total length bytes to confirm if the target tape is exactly the same as the source tape?

I done a ton of searches online but I don't see anything that addresses this.

Thanks for any help you can give.
