End date Major/Minor Category with Active Assets

My client is asking if they can disable a major/minor category combination so it is no longer used. There would be assets that still need to depreciate. They just don't want the major/minor category to be used any longer.

I can't help but think this will cause issues. I plan to test but thought someone may have been asked about this scenario and have some insight.
