Is Global Accounting Engine still used in R12

 Hi,

Presently we are in 11i and for france we are using AX(glob accnting engine) and we are planning to implement to R12 .As per R12 features we can use secondary ledger  feature in place of AX.Can anyone confirm that do you still require to use ax at subledger levels?
