Dropship List proce

 Hi,
        I try to book SO in dropship flow, but the system doesn't generate PR Number automatically. So somebody told me that i have to define list price in master item ( I left it blank before).That's it.
 But  I want to ask all experts here that
1. List price is the same value price that i have defined in price list or not.
2. Why I have to define list price?
