Expenditure items can be created for unopened periods

 Hi, one of the clients I support has setup of Projects that allows expenditure items to be created for Unopened periods, these then fail on Distribute Cost processes.

In our own setup it is not possible to enter items for an unopened period, we receive  error of 'There is no open or future pa period for the given Expenditure Item Date and GL Date'.  Which is to be expected and ensures that only valid dates can be entered.

Is it possible to change the setup to prevent expenditure item creation for unopened periods?

Any advice greatly received.
