US PAY: W2s in ESS

We have generated employee W2s in one instance.  Is there any way for employees to view these W2s using ESS in the another instance?  Does the ESS only looks at the final W2 file or the year-end pre-process has to be processed in second instance to access W2s?

Please advice.
