Data Guard , Setting up DR site over WAN site

hi,

   Our database is oracle 10g , 10.2.0.3 . We're planning to do a DR site over WAN site using data guard which has slow bandwidth. Other than cascading redo logs,  we're planning the ssh compression on the redo log . Is it possible to do this at oracle 10g as we only see documents about it on oracle 9i.

  Other than this two ways, any way that we can do the same ?
