Oracle 10 or 11 for Siebel 8.1.x

Reseaching  our Siebel 7.8.2.14 SEA upgrade to 8.1.1.4 SEA - been running across several crossing bits of information. Siebeltoolbox - found statemeant that Siebel 8.1 needs to be upgraded to Oracle 11 to work - a support doc on Siebel Upgrade has a table showing Oracle 10g DB is ok - but needs 11g Client. We are on 10g now and need to know the absolute answer before we can scope the project.
