Inventory - Item defintion tab's are greyed out

Hi Inventory team,

I am using R12.1.2 version of applications.  I defined Inventory org and required parameters in the org definition.

When I started defining items, I noticed all the tabs on Item definition menu are greyed out.  all the below tab's are greyed out.

Inventory, Bills of Material, Asset Management, Costing , Purchasing, Receiving, Physical attributes

Is there any specific setup that I am missing?

Can any one suggest what should i verify to make sure all the tab's show's up.
