R12(Customer Not available on Transaction)

 I have created a Customer from Front End. When I go to the transaction screen and try to see that customer to create a transction , I am not able to see that customer on the screen.

Can some one help me in potentially what step I am missing out in the customer creation.

Also I would Like to understand what is the difference between Apply Button and save button.
