Multisite Consolidations - Setup Whitepapers available?

We currently have four separate companies, running multi-currency that we want to consolidate.  All companies have the same account structure which, from a newbie's point of view would make this relatively easy. 

Anybody know of a decent 'how-to' setup doc for this?  What I'm finding out there is pretty convoluted with no sequenced steps.
