RAC - Oracle not writing to listener.log file on one node

 Oracle 10.2.0.4 on RedHat Linux 5.5 Five node RAC database.

the listener.log file is missing from the /opt/app/oracle/product/10gR2/db_1/network/log directory.  I created a empty file and tried to make several connections to this node but the listener.log file is empty. What should I do?
