Object Checked-in vs Deployment

 Hi,

One of our developers asked me to build and deploy the project to DV. He has already checked-in the objects. I have just checked the DV and found that all the objects he aske me to build and deploy are already available in DV.

I am little confused here, why we need build and deploy when the objects are already in DV when they were checked-in.

Can someone please clarify this concept.
