What does RMAN check exactly during backup and restore concerning to block corruptions.

I need to find out out exactly, what is checked by rman during backup and during restore concerning to block corruptions. I searched for documents handling this point, but was not able to find. If anybody is able to provide helpful documents, this would be very welcome.

I found, that checking for physical block corruptions is done by default during backup (and during restore???) and logical block corruption checks can be added in both cases optionally. The question is what do these checks prove in detail?
