Is Edition-Based Redefinition for all cases?

 

Hello everyone, Not sure to post at the best place but I have not seen any forum concerning specifically EBR. I would like to know how EBR would manage a change in an application that involve going from X possible states (accepted distinct values for a column) to only X-Y possible states (accepted distinct values for the same column). Lets give a fictive example: Lets say the value 1, 2 and 3 were the only valid values in the PRE_UPGRADE application and 4 and 5 are the only valid values in the POST_UPGRADE application. Value 1 from the PRE_UPGRADE application now correspond to value 4 in the POST_UPGRADE application. Value 2 and 3 of the PRE_UPGRADE application now correspond to value 5 in the POST_UPGRADE application.
