Need to update development database on regular basis thru rman

 Hello Gurus,

We are about to start archivelog mode on our 8.0.6.0 database on win 2000 server. I would like to know what precautions should we take before and during the archivelog mode. My scenario is to take full database backup (image copies) and transfer the backup to development machine. I have to restore the database on that machine. Since database duplication is not possible in this version, could you suggest any alternatives to copy our production database regularly on development machine.

We are in testing stage to upgrade our database to 10g or higher. Till that time i have to maintain this database. I tried some steps to recreate the scenario as below:
