Is there a way to use preferences to set a promised ship date to be Wednesday for a customer?

I have several customers who have staged/consolidated shipments that ship on the same day every week, unfortunatly the orders do not come in with dates that reflect those staged dates.  Is there a way to set up one or more preferences to accomodate the day of the week for promised ship/request date?
