SAS drives in J4400?

We have a dual-head 7410 with three trays of 1TB 7200 SATA drives. Can we replace these with SAS drives for faster IOPS?
Secondly, can we add other brand drive trays to this array?

We are pushing our existing drives to their limits. The person who set this up set it up as RAIDZ for VMWare. Can we take advantage of SAS to buy back IOPS performance with RAIDZ, or do we have to reformat as mirrored?
