Schedule Ship Date Updated to Sysdate

If an entered orders schedule ship date is prior to the sysdate and the order quantity is changed the scheduled ship date automatically updates to the sysdate.

There is a business requirement where business wants to change quantities but still have the schedule ship date to remain in the past.

Is there a way of using process constraints or other rules to bypass this issue.
